Science Class – Plant Growing
Research Question:
Where do plants grow better?
Iv: The location of plants
Dv: Which plant grew better, bigger, larger, etc.
Controlled Variables: The amount of soil, seeds, and fertilizer.
Discussion of changes you made after the first experiment to improve your outcomes:
Unfortunately, our plants didn’t grow much. The only one that grew was the one in total light. It grew 8 cm and ended up dying after we measured it. One thing I noticed was that our plants were still moist and didn’t need any more water. However, I don’t understand why the one in the dark and in sunlight didn’t grow. The second time around we put a pit more fertilizer, however nothing changed. Our results are not the same as most of the groups (all their’s grew in the dark) but it was really nice to see that at least one plant grew.
Data: discuss your data and other students. Do some basic analysis on the data.
Dark
Mode: 0 cm
Median: 11 cm
Mean: 8.2 cm
24h Light
Mode: O cm
Median: 1.75 cm
Mean: 2.875 cm
Sunlight:
Mode: 0 cm
Median: 0 cm
Mean: 0 cm
Conclusion: Based on my data, I can conclude that plants grow much better in total dark. Because with the data we got with the other groups there highest growth was in total dark. Unfortunately we had no results but, Marco’s group had 11 cm, Christian’s had 12 cm, and Leon topped the groups with 18 cm.
